ARMT-Imagery/Figurative Language

We have been reviewing similes/metaphors/personification for the ARMT. I love this part of english/reading-especially personification!! However, there are 2 different definitions for personification that I have come across during this ARMT practice. One is giving human life qualitites to non-living objects, and the other one is giving human life qualitites to non-human things (animals, etc.). I just told my kids that if it sounds absurd then it is personification! 🙂

They are doing great with similes and ok with metaphors! I wish I had enough time to pull small groups of students-maybe I can the closer that it gets to the ARMT! 1st year in a grade level is sort of hard to figure out-but at least I will have time this summer to really reflect, get organized, and plan ahead!!!
